Painting Technique
This time consuming technique finds her roots in the Renaissance period. Leonardo da Vinci and Botticelli among others used this painting method. Recent artists somewhat adapted the technique in compliance with the contemporary materials. However, the principles are still the same. Form exists by the grace of light and shadow. With this given: I start with a grey panel, painting the images with Omber (shadows) and titanium white (light). The greyish under layer will still be slightly visible in the middle tone. After sufficient drying time, the colours will be applied in glazing layers (transparent and semi-transparent colours).
I repeat this glazing method more than once, through which an extra dimension in depth will occur. With the proper illumination the painting will 'comes to life'.The gradations of reflexion of light by the under layer give the painting that mystical dimension.
Because of this painting technique, I can approach the facinating reality best.
The large pieces of art sometimes take up to a years work, depending on the difficulty and quantity of the images.
